Engineering and Public Policy offers an M.S. - Research program that gives students skills to perform focused research and analysis on societal issues where scientific and technical details matter.
If you want to develop skills in engineering, social science, and policy, and conduct in-depth critical analysis of a societal problem, the EPP MS - Research program may be right for you.
Our students have a variety of technical backgrounds from their prior degrees or professional experience. While most students have a science or engineering undergraduate degree, we also consider social scientists with an interest in technology issues and a strong quantitative background. EPP students go on to careers in academia, think tanks, analysis, government, business, and non-profits around the world.
The MS program is a flexible, professional program consisting of coursework and focused research, including:
- Core courses to provide a foundation for understanding the breadth of complex problems and their solutions
- Theory and practice of policy analysis
- Quantitative methods for policy analysis
- Elective courses to provide a balanced perspective on problem-solving approaches
- Quantitative methods electives
- Social analysis and decision-making electives
- Research units to acquire depth of knowledge in a particular field
This three-semester program begins in August.
